I am an artist, designer and tattooer working out of Calgary, Alberta Canada. I have a bachelor of Applied Arts in Illustration from Sheridan College which I completed with honours in 2012. My work has been published in a number of Canadian and international publications since 2013, such as Review of Journalism (Toronto Metropolitan University), Railyard Brewing, Calgary Herald (Swerve Magazine), Modern Dog Magazine, Una Pizza + Wine, and many more.
Artist Statement
I have always been drawn to figurative work and representing wonderfully imperfect bodies and beings and the connection we share with nature and the world around us. My queerness has always (at times unknowingly) been central to my work, pushing back against traditional and stagnant imagery and embracing the discomfort of being seen as different, beautiful, ugly, strange, and unapologetically taking up space often reserved for convention. My illustration background is central to my artistic process of visual exploration and curiosity.
Tattooing
My tattoo practice is centered around informed consent for the comfort and safety of my clients. Tattooing is a collaboration between artist and client, and open communication throughout booking, designing, and tattooing is integral to a positive experience. It is important to me that I meet my client’s needs and expectations by creating artwork they want while ensuring their tattoo will age well and hold up over time. As a queer woman in the tattoo industry, safety and inclusion is deeply important to me and I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to serve my clients, especially my 2SLGBTQ+ community. You can find more of my tattoo work on my Instagram account.
